Gem Engines - Great to Deal With !!!!!!

Ricer Engines - Unable to answer Sorry :|

but is it ?????

a Reconditioned Engine
a Used Engine 2nd/3rd/4th hand and Flogged
what compression does all cylinders have ? equal or not ?

There's plenty of reasons why i would only prefer to use Local.
1. More of a chance of a Warranty - if any issues.
2. the thread that spoke about differant dsl fuels used and damage,
if it's from Japan/thailand/china and anywhere else, what fuel has the engine
already come in contact with, It would be a shame to Buy a reasonable engine,
than have to pull apart to rebuild pumps etc.
3. was it an engine that went under water in the tsunami ???

Ok hope this helps you abit, since there has been 38 views
and No replies

Only thing being the the 1UZFE engined Soarer/Cressida/Celsior was not an Australian delivered model so local is a little hard to source . The engine was locally delivered in a Lexus tho' .

Tis a very common engine O/S and they are also cheap and have huge scope for improvement, a rebuild will also be in the future but must fit the dam thing and make it run first .

Been keeping an eye on the auctions/Gumtree etc. even asked a ADF bloke in the street if he wanted to sell his POS Soarer but he was dreaming .

I've found an engine and box ex:Brisbane $1100 but the looms have been cut and there are no ECU's, so am in 2 minds

Most of the importers have engines in stock some at reasonable prices I'll keep looking something may turn up

I personally had nothing but issues with my gem engine and then they said they didn't rebuild it and wasn't in there system.

They come up cheap. Mate got a bargain few weeks ago complete soarer eith a 1 uz for $1000 cash

Keep looking and don't rush 1 will show cheap

There is a complete soarer on FB for 5 but you'd get it for less. Sell the parts and you'd make your money back

Al I've contacted a lot of importers most have stock and will purchase one way or the other. A half cut would be good but the freight more than doubles verses just engine and box ( half cut $750 engine and box $ 250-300) that's killing me at the moment .

I don't have the money or patience to buy an over priced car to try and make the money back, $ 5000 is more than I am willing to pay for this whole project , I answer phones all day and have learned I really hate the bloody thing, having a spotty faced ricer lover ring me and haggle over some part I could not give a shit about would drive me even more nut's than I am already ....... and breathe.......

Thanks for the great advice tho "

relevant to your interests..

and Part 03 - Finished Product

Long story short,
Twin turbo 1jz got put into an old Cressida for a grand total build cost of $2700, if freight for a half cut is $750 you'll well clear the 5K budget.
At least with a halfcut you can transplant everything you need to make it run (ecu, looms, ect)

OK, how about Gumtree/ebay - Cressida ?

ya might be able to buy a cheap vehicle, pull the motor/wire-loom etc, and sell the rest
for scrap ! Just a thought
