Yeah I might do that. The uni joints look ok. I have to take the whole cover off after I've drained it so will have a good look.

yeah mine was the main ring gear broke in 2 spots as i did it once then thought the next try will make it but no. broke 7 teeth off the ring gear

Yeah, I know about the diff cover as I do all my own work. The back one I replaced with an ARB which is great as has a drainplug. It's not making any sounds and have tried 4wd in low and high and it's driving fine. I will still check it out. Might be a good excuse for a regear and locker if it is damaged. I have been under it and nothing looks amiss.

To drain the diff - don't have to take off the cover - loosen and take out the lower bolts, the crack the seal and let it go. Then have to take it off to reseal to fill again

Well I drained the front diff oil and took off the cover and had a good look - it all looks fine - no damage in there at all and now has a fresh batch of oil as well. Looking at the size of the unis on the front driveshafts, I think they would break 1st.
